JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: General Manager
Department: Administration
Reporting to: Board of Directors
Job Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the management, promotion, growth and executive direction of St. Volodymyr Villa Corporation. The corporate aims and objectives should be achieved.
Training, Skills and Experience
· Five or more years of experience at a senior management level, preferably in the seniors’ housing industry.
· A proven leader and a strong communicator capable to managing and motivating people while working in a team environment.
· A caring person who is able to identify with the needs, disposition and lifestyles of seniors.
· A person who appreciates the spiritual dimensions of the residents.
· An accomplished manager with an excellent understanding of all policies and procedures and all facets of operating a seniors’ complex.
· A thorough understanding of corporate financial management.
· Excellent organization skills with an ability to carry out critical planning, including the responsibility for strategic planning, involving extensive coordination of operations, programs, budgets or activities over an extended period of time.
· An ability to make sound strategic decisions guided by organizational strategies and goals which will have a broad impact on the continued operation and future development of St. Volodymyr Villa Corporation.
· High level of proficiency in use of computers and software programs, including Microsoft Office 360 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
· Exceptional verbal & written communication skills.
Job Duties
Supervision
· Recruit, develop and train designated staff.
· Suspend employees and provide approval for the dismissal of employees.
· Supervise, directly and indirectly, the staff and management of St. Volodymyr Villa Corporation.
· Evaluate work performance of staff through a detailed annual performance appraisal.
· Manage and administer workflow within approved procedures to meet accuracy, security and time standards.
· Review and revise job descriptions as needed.
Interpersonal/Communication
· Conduct regular and special meetings with staff, management, committees and the Board of Directors for discussion of areas in need of improvement, changes in policy or procedure, new developments, education.
· Conduct meetings with the residents as required for the purpose of communicating information.
· Provide positive and enthusiastic leadership in maintaining and promoting internal office relations.
· Motivate staff through leadership by example.
· Determine the need for staff training.
Strategic Planning/Decision Making
· Formulate and recommend to the Board of Directors a strategic plan and an annual operating plan identifying priority issues and initiatives to be addressed to achieve the organization’s vision, and set short, medium and long-term objectives.
· Working closely with the various managers, conduct all the affairs of the Corporation on a prudent and sound business basis as directly and guided by the Board of Directors and Board policy.
· In conjunction with the various managers, responsible to implement management plans approved by the Board of Directors in all major operational areas of the Corporation, including Property Management, Financial Management and Resident Services Management.
· Together with the Resident Services Coordinator, initiate plans, functions and projects to promote a positive and enjoyable lifestyle for the residents of St. Volodymyr.
· Manage St. Volodymyr Villa Corporation financial resources by ensuring control, deployment, development and growth of the resources.
· Manage the Corporation’s investment portfolio.
· Ensure the profitability of all services and justification of costs.
· Approve expenses.
· Together with the Financial Manager, responsible to prepare the annual budget for the Villa and the life lease complexes.
· Evaluate new services offered by the seniors housing industry and determine if they will be beneficial to St. Volodymyr Villa Corporation.
· Constantly evaluate existing services in terms of their need, cost effectiveness and delivery methods.
Reporting
· Ensure accurate and timely submission of reports.
· Responsible to present to the Board changes in operational issues that will make the best possible use of all the resources available to the Corporation.
· Responsible to prepare the agenda for the Board and Committee meetings, in consultation with the Chairs of the Board and the various committees.
· Responsible to present regular reports to the Board meetings, articulating relevant issues to the Board, both positive and negative. Present any issues that require Board attention.
Public Relations
· Represent St. Volodymyr Villa Corporation at various functions.
· At least once per year, prepare and distribute a newsletter to the parishes in the Eparchy, outlining the various activities of the Corporation.
· Ensure a positive overall image of St. Volodymyr Villa Corporation through superior service to our residents.
· Encourage effective promotion of St. Volodymyr Villa facilities by ensuring that the Corporation has a positive image in the community and implementation of promotion campaigns where necessary.
Policy and Procedure
· Develop policies and procedures for St. Volodymyr Villa Corporation.
· Comply with all St. Volodymyr Villa Corporation policies and procedures.
· Ensure staff compliance to all St. Volodymyr Villa Corporation policies and procedures.
· Ensure the communication and fair application of all personnel policies to staff.
Other Duties
· Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors from time to time.
Compensation
· The General Manager will be compensation through an annual salary plus a 1% commission from the sale of the life lease condo units.
· The salary range of the General Manager as at January 1, 2023 is $75,000 to $88,725 per annum based on a 37.5 hour work week.
· St. Volodymyr Villa staff benefit package is through the Chamber Group Benefits Plan and includes Life Insurance, Long-Term Disability Insurance and Extended Healthcare. In addition, the Villa provides a matching 3% employee/employer RRSP contribution for full-time employees.
